Once again our son Timothy is in the hospital with bronchiolitis. One more time and he should be "officially" diagnosed with asthma. We find that a bad cold brings on the asthma symptoms, so we've been putting the puffer on him whenever he starts developing cold symptoms. This time, though, things got progressively worse instead of better, so Tom took him into emergency yesterday.
Originally Tom planned to have Josiah stay overnight with him, but decided against that, thinking it better to have a parent there at night. Timothy gets worse at night, which is why he was flown to CHEO the last time. Thankfully that did not happen this time. This morning the doctor said Timothy will need to stay another night, so Josiah is staying with him now to let Tom come home to sleep.
Samuel is doing well. We have to keep him bundled up to help him keep his temperature up where it should be. He is wearing a long-sleeved undershirt, a short-sleeved undershirt, a pair of socks, a light-weight sleeper, a heavy sleeper, and a hat. He is wrapped burrito-style in a blanket and tucked into my bed under a flannel sheet and two quilts. This keeps his temperature between 36 and 36.5 Celsius, which is where it should stay.
John, Elizabeth, Abigail, Benjamin and Sarah all have cold symptoms ranging from sore throat and nasal congestion to full-blown coughing-all-the-time cold. My throat is scratchy. And when Tom called this morning it was hard to tell if he is stuffed up or just groggy from lack of sleep.
BUT.......
Spring is "officially" here according to the calendar, and the snow is melting bit by bit every day. The days are warmer and usually sunny. And although the snow is still pretty deep most places, there are a few bare-ground spots showing through here and there. Give us another few weeks and hopefully we'll have flowers starting to poke through. I planted a lot of daffodils last fall, and also dug up and divided an iris clump. I'm eager to see how they all do this year. I've got other gardening plans in mind that I can't wait to get going on.
We also hope to do our roof this spring, and start getting the inside of the house renovated. Josiah has plans to help with that, including setting money aside to help pay for it, instead of paying rent like Nathanael does. I've actually been setting aside some of Nate's rent to put toward all that, also.
That's it for now. Thanks to all who have been praying for us.

Good morning to you all. I was just listening to Elizabeth read me your blog page last night and this morning when I was on the messenger talking with your mom she said to go and read your blog.
I am going to pray for you all as soon as I get this message off to you.
It sounds like you all are not having a good time.
Elizabeth went to the doctors yesterday with a bad cold and got a shot and some meds. Dave woke me up at 5:30 saying he was really sick on his stomach and using the bathroom a lot!!! I got up to see what I could do for him and felt really tired ( for that I will let you know later ). I did what I could for him and told him not to talk to me anymore and let me sleep. I am good this morning, just tired.
We had the rest of our wood floors laid in the dining room and kitchen yesterday which meant all last weekend I unloaded hutches and everything else to get it out of the workers way. Uncle Dave laid the floors in the living room and down the hall several years ago but with gas stoves to move across rooms and unhook gas lines and with all the work Uncle Dave does at his job we opted for help this time. I got up this morning and got all the china and crystal back in the hutches and still my sewing-craft-office room is a disaster. I am worn out and taking a break from putting things away where they should go!!!
I am scheduled for an MRI on Friday night to check my left shoulder that is giving me a lot of pain and trouble for which the therapy sessions I went to for over a month didn't help. Not at all sure what will come of the test results. I am thinking maybe surgery but will wait to see what the doctor says. He wasn't happy with what the therapist sent him in his report. I don't sleep well because of the shoulder and I didn't sleep well anyway before the shoulder trouble. Oh, well, I still get up every morning and praise the Lord for all his mercies and grace.
I will pray that your nursing will strengthen little Samuel and he will grow strong like his namesake.
Sing to your children "You are my sunshine, my only sunshine." I used to sing that to my kids when they didn't feel well.
I love you all and will be praying.
Love,
Aunt Sharon
Praying for you and your family Cathy, hope everyone feels better soon.
Seems like winter is tough on everyone, I really want to do some thinking about how to get us through next winter in a much healthier state!
I just got over the 24 hour flu; hopefully you all will get better as fast as I did!
"spring" is also here in Illinois, I can't wait untill the sun comes shining though!
I'm praying for you all!
Cathy, do pray you all feel much better soon, and your little Samuel's temp will hold on it's own. Sounds like he is a little papoose :) Chicken
